It isn’t late yet, not by my standards. The moon casts a harsh white glare over the alley, illuminating irrelevant cracks and inconsequential crevices. There are some things that will only hinder you on a night like this. Light is one of those things.
I scan the alley. It appears I am alone, but I know they are everywhere. Lurking in the shadows, hovering in the mist, waiting to strike. I have little to worry about - I have come prepared - but that does not quell the crimson fear coursing through my veins at ferocious speeds.
